What is an EGR

An EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. This is a very well knows strategy to reduce Nitrogen Oxide, also known as an air pollutant.

Strict emission targets set by the EU and governmental bodies means that vehicle manufacturers are required to develop ways to help reduce the emissions of a vehicle. An EGR system is just one of those ways.

The process involves recirculating a specified amount of the engine’s exhaust back into the intake. Combustion temperatures are reduced, which in turn reduces the NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) emissions.

The valve which is the focal point of the EGR system is responsible for controlling the flow of gas and can be shut altogether if need be. While emissions are reduced, the vehicle compromises on efficiency and reliability of the engine.

Removal/Bypass of the EGR

If unclean exhaust gasses clog up the valve, this can cause the valve to stick in an open position. If this occurs, no oxygen can get into the engine which causes the engine to become slow, inefficient, and unresponsive.

Many people who understand EGR systems, understand that an EGR system which is faulty can result in expensive repair bills and reliability problems.

Our service here at The Remap Center offers a full EGR Bypass / removal service which will vastly improve the performance and reliability of your vehicle.
